Meet your new New York City commissioner!
We're excited to announce that Steve Hamlin has started in a full-time operations role with us and has begun the process of taking over as the New York City commissioner! Steve started out with us a field manager assistant in Long Island a few years ago, and has since done countless matches for us both in that same role and as one of our photographers at the fields.
Steve recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports management from St. John's University and has experience in the professional game working for the New York Red Bulls and New York Cosmos. He is an avid Arsenal fan (much like our former commissioner Todd Jasko) and had this to say about joining the Gotham Family on a full time basis:
"I'm so excited to sign on full-time with GSL! Going forward, I can't wait to give my all to growing this league and adding to the rich culture of soccer in New York City. We have such a great community of players with a lot of unique offerings across the boroughs and I can't wait to play a bigger role in what we do in New York City in the coming years!"
We're excited to have Steve hit the ground running, and during this transition period he has already become the point of contact for a few of our small-sided divisions, including Women's 9s and Co-Ed 7v7, and take full control of New York City in the fall. You can follow Steve on Instagram and Twitter or reach out to him directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
